On March 4th of 2005, PowerSurge Worship Ministries(PWM) came to our church and Christian school. What I expected was a day of good music and teaching led by long time friend Greg Gaffney. What we got was far more than that. Greg’s lessons were right on track for our students, and the worship was just that. It was not entertainment, it was them leading us into worship of our mighty God. What most impressed me about PWM and the PowerSurge Worship Band was two-fold:

1. The incredible humbleness of heart and spirit that the band had. They made if very clear that they were there to assist us and serve the Lord. They treated our students like they were famous multi-millionaires. The time they each of them took to talk with and minister to our students from the minute they got there until they said good-bye in parking lot was very impressive. Several of them had taken time to prepare lessons in advance to teach our students. Some of these groups consisted of only a couple of kids and they gave it the importance as if there were thousands. Each of their seminars received excellent feedback.

2. Their ability to relate to, and minister with a very diverse population. Our school has a 50/50 white/black population, representing over 200 different churches. In the evening session we had people there from 3-83 years old. They had songs to fit many different styles and a way of relating to all. Many have thanked me for having them come and asked to have them back again.

In short PWM truly sent a surge of God’s power and love through our school and congregation. Our school administration and church staff were greatly impressed and appreciative of their hearts and ministry and all are anticipating a return event.

We can not recommend them highly enough to you. I would love to talk or email with you personally and encourage you to invite them to your ministry.

I am the assistant pastor of a young church with a short supply of musicians who are all learning how to lead worship with contemporary music. I recently asked Greg Gaffney of Powersurge Worship Ministries if he would come and work with our guitarist (me) and our keyboardist, hoping that he might give us a few tips on how to play together. I was amazed at how much I learned from him in the hour that we spent together. I didn’t just get a few tips on how a guitar and keyboard should play together, but I got a lesson on how a band should play together, not simply to sound good, but in order to sound good and set God’s people free to worship Him in song. He was able to give us some very good technical ideas, and he also reminded me of our first priority as a “worship band,” which is to enable the congregation to focus on what they are singing and who they are singing to.

I cannot recommend Greg and PWM highly enough. Greg is skilled and knowledgeable as well as being sensitive and extremely encouraging. I am certain that the brief time he spent with two of us will have a lasting impact on the worship of our church family.
